In memory of all backyards full of blessings
Swellings the numbers of the faithful in Utah.
And for the mother who proudly announced

“Salt Lake City is the Jello Capital of the world”

.

childerlings dance on the roof of my mind
banging pots and pans
tickle tickle toe tickle so
till i laugh they will not go

two foot tall and innocent
they march through life in
bright crayon gigglemania
small hope in tomato banana
peachy razmania and plum

sweet children drown in jello
pink strawberry scented for girls
grapey-chewy blue for boys
blow bubbles in gelatinous miasma
pink and blue purple orgasmia

little children crushed under bully foot
leave a violet wet spot on the couch
they spit artificially colored cool made
right under mama’s print
on the left side of the sofa

sweet little ones stomp dirt in rugs
one tiny foot at a time
grind fake cheese in your bed
and spit out wads of gum
under the cushions

childerlings dance on the roof of my mind
banging pots and pans
tickle tickle toe tickle so
till i laugh they will not go
