Meanwhile, At The School Dance by Dave Gorgonzolla A newly discovered scene edited from a 1958 B-movie about an invasion of aliens... Benny has just worked up the nerve to ask Andrea, his secret and imaginary lover, to dance with him. He shuffles past the Graves- spiked punchbowl, sidesteps Angelo, the class hood, and heads straight towards a pig-tailed girl with an applique poodle on her skirt. He repeatedly recites his well rehersed line to himself and continues on, in spite of the copious sweat now beading on his brow. His tongue is dry and leathery, yet he manages somehow to stammer his request. B: 'A-Andrea, would goo l-l-like to d-dan-' His Kodak moment is torn asunder as instantly, his dream girl is replaced by a steaming sack of spilling entrails and gushing vital fluids. A large black furry beaked Martian death induction appendage juts forward from her once heaving breast, her still beating heart skewered on it's viscious tip. The entire school gymnasium erupts into a screaming scramble of duck tails, cleated shoes and lifted skirts as several teens who will never know the joy of having their lives mortgaged into oblivion meet a particularly messy demise. Benny stands unmoving, frozen in shock, unable to flinch away from Andrea's quickly approaching heart-ka-bob as his own solar plexus becomes it's new home. Lifted high into the air on the tip of an alien appendage, they dance at last...and even though it appeared to be an awkward derivative of 'The Monkey', not the slow dance he had hoped for, Benny for a brief moment felt something like joy. |
